Free Entertainment for Families at Vancouver’s Biggest Event

One of the world’s longest running offshore fireworks competitions returns for its 26th year, with an estimated attendance of over 1.4 million people. The Honda Celebration of Light, a free musical fireworks competition in Vancouver, BC, Canada, is a much anticipated and well-known event that takes place at English Bay each year. Three international contenders, each represented by a fireworks production company from their own country, will light up Vancouver skies for three days. The schedule for the 2016 annual summertime spectacle is as follows:

• July 23: Netherlands, represented by Royal Fireworks
• July 27: Australia, represented by Howard’s Fireworks
• July 30: United States, represented by The Walt Disney Company

Fireworks will begin at 10 p.m. each night, rain or shine, and the winner will be announced on July 31. Attendees can also enjoy live entertainment, activities, free giveaways and delicious food all day at Shorefest, Vancouver’s largest free community concert presented by LG104.3 FM on the shores of English Bay.

• Team Netherlands: Founded in 2008, the Royal Fireworks is known for their spectacular fireworks shows in the Philippines, China, and Dubai. In 2015, they ranked 2nd place in the China Changsha International Pyro-Musical Fireworks Competition.
• Team Australia: Howard’s Fireworks has been in operation since 1922. They have created stunning fireworks displays at both national and international levels. In 2015, they received a gold medal for their display at the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition.
• Team USA: The Walt Disney Company has been producing fireworks since the 1960s when Disneyland Park first opened its doors in California. To date, they produce 11,000 pyrotechnic events every year in seven parks and on four cruise ships. The Walt Disney Company is recognized for delivering highly specialized and choreographed fireworks presentations that tell a powerful story.
